Protective and preventative safety
Australian roads have never been busier and driver distraction is increasing, that’s why safety is more important than ever.
Under the skin of every Subaru Liberty is hidden engineering intelligence. In the event of a collision, a ring-shaped steel safety cell has been designed to absorb and direct the impact of the force around the cabin, rather than through it. Plus, every Liberty comes equipped with the superior traction and control of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and the protection of seven SRS airbags1.
And with EyeSight® Driver Assist and Subaru’s Vision Assist*, accidents can even be prevented in the first place. Genius. No wonder the Subaru Liberty achieves a 5 star ANCAP2 safety rating.
1. SRS: Supplemental Restraint System. Effective when used in conjunction with seatbelts.
2. The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) gives consumers information on the level of occupant protection provided by vehicles in serious front and side crashes.
Reverse parking camera
Thanks to a state-of-the-art rear-view reverse camera, you’ll feel like you have eyes in the back of your head guiding you safely into every parking spot.
Auto door lock and unlock
Keep your family safe with Subaru Liberty’s adjustable auto door locking and unlocking feature. Options include setting the doors to lock when you start driving and to unlock when you’re in Park mode.
Eyes on the road
EyeSight® Driver Assist is world-class safety technology that provides added reassurance every moment you’re behind the wheel. Two windscreen mounted cameras monitor the road ahead for potential danger. If a dangerous situation is detected, the system alerts the driver to take action and if necessary, EyeSight® can step in to help avoid an accident. It’s like having an extra pair of eyes watching out for you and your family.
Subaru’s Vision Assist
Many accidents happen because one driver simply cannot see another. Subaru’s Vision Assist is designed to help eliminate blind spots with cameras and sensors placed to give a driver better awareness of what’s around them.
If a vehicle is in your blind spot, a light symbol on your side mirror lights up - on either side of the car - to let you know. Or, if you’re changing lanes and a fast approaching vehicle is behind you, a light symbol will warn you of its presence. If you’re reversing and a vehicle drives past behind you, or if the system detects that vehicles are approaching from the side, Subaru's Vision Assist Rear Cross Traffic Alert will alert you that there is risk of a collision.
Subaru’s Vision Assist available on Subaru Liberty 2.5i Premium AWD and Liberty 3.6R AWD.

Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC):
Featuring a range of stability and braking technologies, the VDC system steps in to help maintain your safety in extreme situations. Constantly analysing through an array of sensors, VDC includes:
Electronic Stability Control: Helps you gain control if you unexpectedly understeer or oversteer, by applying brakes, reducing engine power and distributing torque.
Traction Control System: Helps you minimise your wheel slip by reducing engine power.
Limited Slip Device:Helps you maintain control by transferring power from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip.
Anti-lock Braking System:Helps you stay in control by minimising stopping distance and maintaining vehicle control under brakes.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution:Helps keep you safe by controlling the braking pressure to the front and rear wheels all the time.
Brake Assist: Helps you in emergency situations by maximising stopping power
